Project Title

“Flavors of London” is a place you can visit on a daily basis in order to eat Ice Cream/ popcorn/ candy, to have a chat, to work or just to spend some good time. This place has an arthouse movie atmosphere. From every perspective, you have a sense of a movie episode where people casually interact with each other. Our goal was to create a nice space where good people can enjoy good snacks. There are two separate zones. The first one is a spacious space with a high counter and stool, a sitting area with a lot of lightning along the wall and the other is the centre space with customized light table and chair.

Its is not just a shop, but also kind of urban space. Small shops like this play a significant role in the urban cultural scene in a city. As much as an interior element, the space is designed as a piece of urban furniture.

There is room to seat 16 people simultaneously. The seating areas have been planned to create different possibilities for users. The food preparation area has been streamlined to the maximum, it has been placed at further at the corner back of the space to get customers to roam the premises. The materials used are concrete and wood.

The design makes use of a restrained quantity and monochromatic tonal qualities in the materials used. Humble archetypical materials forged into sleek, linear forms acknowledge the project’s rationalistic aesthetic through the creation of a myriad of small shelving compartments at back of counter to showcase different items. Whereas the ordering structure of the space may be described as rigid and orthogonal, the architect intentionally softened perceptual hard edges by choosing a warm, light palette that adds a sophisticated quality to the overall reading of the space. The room adopts a harmonic and subdued sense of lighting throughout the space. The specified panel lights are coordinated to integrate into the architectural grid, delivering a softened light to the space and establishing a harmonic grid of voids that optically multiply the space. Embedded within the grid, the light hovers in a mysterious manner, blurring over the crisp lines of the entire volume. Natural light floods into the space through the shop-front, connecting the Snack Room to the street-level patio.
